17 Again is a movie about a father who has two teenage kids who don't really like him too much. The father is being be divorced by his wife. The father goes back to his high school where his kids attend to now. He runs into this "janitor" and talks about his past years. The father, Mike, and his wife, Scarlet, dated in their high school years. As seniors, they made a mistake and ended up with a child in the half of the year. They graduated but their life didn't go as they had planned. Mike wanted to get a basketball scholarship but he gave it up for Scarlet. They had their first child which was a girl, Maggie. Soon came along Alex. Mike wasn't getting higher up in his job and ended up getting fired by his own cousin. The janitor asks him if he would like to go back and do it all over again. Mike says that he would like to but doesn't expect it happening. One night Mike goes for a drive through the rain and goes over a bridge. While looking out the window he sees the janitor on top of the ledge of the bridge. Mike stops the car and gets out while yelling at the janitor to get down. The janitor supposedly jumps off the bridge and Mike runs to where he was. He stands there looking into the water and sees a whirlpool starting to form. Mike falls into it and wakes up walking home, his friend from high school's home. He gets there and looks in the mirror and notices that he looks like he did when he was 17. Mike's friend, Ned, wakes up and walks out thinking there is someone in the house other than Mike. They end up fighting but Ned finally realizes that it's actually Mike. They talk about what has happened and can't seem to figure out how he got to look like a 17 year old again. Mike decides that he should go back to high school and play basketball again. He goes back, makes friends with his son who eventually finds out that he's actually his father, and Mike and his son both make the basketball team. Mike comes by to the house to see Scarlet but pretends to see Alex. While going back to high school, he sees how his children actually are. Maggie dates a jerk basketball player. Alex gets picked on by the basketball team. Mike goes in, helps Alex out, and makes Maggie realize how stupid it is to date the jerk of a basketball player. Scarlet is still planning to go through with this divorce although Mike has been a little busy with his back to high school life. Being sentenced to court for the divorce, Mike goes in and spills his heart out to Scarlet speaking for his former adult self. After a few basketball games, the same scout that showed up to see Mike 17 years ago comes back to scout him out once again. Scarlet was there and once Mike did a hand gesture that proved he was the real Mike, she got up and left just like she did in the past. Mike drops the ball and runs after. While he runs back after her, he turns back to his adult self. Showing that history repeated itself, Scarlet and Mike quit the divorce and live their lives happy again. Guess he made the right decision after all.
